Car fire on I-264E causes closure at Newtown Road exit overnight

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — An early morning car crash and fire on Interstate 264 East closed down the Newtown Road exit for a couple of hours Tuesday.

10 On Your Side has learned that emergency responders pulled one person out of the car. The accident happened around 1:30 a.m.

Crews were able to put out the fire within minutes of arriving on scene. 10 On Your Side is working to learn more about the crash.

Virginia State Police told WAVY.com that the ramp was set to reopen around 3 a.m.

Virginia Department of Transportation cameras showed no delays in the area around 8 a.m. Tuesday.
