CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A man is dead after he was shot multiple times at his Chesapeake home early Wednesday night, police said.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Bell Tower Arch at about 5:30 p.m. Once on scene, police found the 25-year-old man lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.

He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died.

Police identified the victim as Timothy Croskey.

10 On Your Side spoke to a man who claimed Croskey was his cousin.

“He was an outstanding guy, he was one of a kind, that’s all I can say, there’s very few souls like him you find in a lifetime. I just lost mine,” said Calvin Parker.

Parker told 10 On Your Side that Croskey was a father to two young girls. According to neighbors, at least one of the girls was at the home when the victim was shot.

“We watched him grow up, graduate from high school, he’s like my son. It’s close to home,” said neighbor Richard Young.

Neighbors said Croskey lived at the home with his mother. He reportedly worked on cars, and in the construction industry.

“All he did was provide for his family,” Parker said.

Several people told 10 On Your Side that the neighborhood is typically quiet; when the shots rang out, many thought they had heard nearby construction work.

Police have not released any suspect information. The case remains under investigation.
