Proposal for senior housing near Chesapeake Square Mall moves forward

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A proposal to build a senior housing complex in the Chesapeake Square Mall area took a step forward this week.

The Chesapeake Planning Commission on Wednesday approved a proposal to build 160 housing units for residents 62 years of age or older.

The complex would be built on a lot that once housed a movie theater.

This proposal will now go before Chesapeake City Council on Sept. 20.
