At about 7:32 a.m. Thursday, emergency dispatchers received a call requesting police assistance to the 60 block of Bainbridge Avenue for a suspicious situation. When officers arrived, they found a visibly shaken woman who indicated that a man armed with a gun entered her home and went upstairs. The woman ran to a neighbor’s house and called police. She wasn’t sure if the man was still inside the home.

Officers set up a perimeter around the home and negotiators and a SWAT team responded to the scene.

Police sent out a reverse 911 call to neighbors in the area asking them to say inside until the situation was resolved. The faculty at Cradock Middle School was also asked to stay inside the school.

SWAT team members entered the home after “negotiations were unsuccessful,” police say. The house was empty.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
