Newport News police seek suspect in shooting that left teen seriously injured

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that seriously injured a juvenile male.

At 9:09 p.m. on Friday, August 5, officers responded to a shooting at the Quick Save, located at 2610 Chestnut Avenue. When officers arrived, they found the victim, who they believe to be a Newport News 17-year-old, lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Teen shot multiple times in Newport News

Medics took the teen to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say the victim is currently in serious but stable condition.

Police described the suspect as a black male wearing a black shirt and blue jeans who ran from the scene.
