Man charged in double shooting outside of Portsmouth Food Lion

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting outside of a Portsmouth Food Lion.

Kievon Whitehurst, 20, is charged with reckless handling of a firearm for the shooting, which happened the night of Saturday, Aug.  6.

Two people — a man and a woman — were injured in the shooting and taken to the hospital. Police on Saturday said the woman’s injuries were considered life-threatening.

Police tell WAVY’s Erin Kelly that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be pending.
