Fiji, Great Britain will play for men’s rugby gold medal

Fiji and Great Britain will play for the first-ever Olympic rugby sevens gold medal  tonight at 6:00 p.m. ET. The match will be televised on NBCSN and streamed LIVE.

Great Britain defeated South Africa 7-5 in Thursday’s semifinal match. Great Britain has only allowed one try in its last two matches after holding Argentina scoreless Wednesday night.

Fiji had little trouble against Japan, winning the semifinal 20-5. Fiji is now guaranteed to win the country’s first Olympic medal in any sport.

Japan was the biggest surprise in the semifinals, having entered the tournament as the 10th seed out of 12 teams.

Japan and South Africa will play for the bronze medal tonight at 5:30 p.m. ET

Earlier on Thursday, the U.S. men’s rugby team defeated Spain 24-12 to finish ninth in the final Olympic standings.
