NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Two men were sent to the hospital with cuts following a fight in Newport News.
Police responded to the area of 36th Street and Roanoke Avenue around 1:40 p.m. on July 1 and made contact with a man with a laceration to his neck.
Officers were directed to a nearby home, where they observed a bloody trail leading up the front steps and on the doorknob. They spoke to a man inside the home who had cuts on his hand, back and side. Officers searched for a knife but couldn’t find one, according to Officer Brandon Maynard with Newport News Police.
The investigation revealed the two men got into a fight, during which one of them pulled out a knife. Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Based on their statements on what occurred, detectives listed them both as offenders. On August 4, police took 43-year-old James Bandy Jr. into custody for an outstanding warrant in connection to the fight. Police have not identified the second man.
