Sam Dorman made his alma mater proud Wednesday — on two counts.
Foremost, of course, was how he teamed with Mike Hixon to win the silver medal in the men’s synchronized 3-meter springboard diving final at the Rio Games.
Dorman is the first Hurricane to win an Olympic medal since Lauryn Williams, who won a silver in bobsledding at the 2014 Sochi Games. Williams also won gold in the 2012 London Games as part of the U.S.’ winning entry in the 4×100-meter relay.
“Sam is absolutely at the top of his game,” Miami head diving coach Randy Ableman said. “He’s in perfect shape. He’s doing the hardest dives in the world, and doing them spectacularly. It’s very gratifying to be a part of that development, and to see a kid achieve so many of his goals and dreams.”
