CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Immigration and Customs Officials recently arrested 18 people in Chesapeake, including a convicted sex offender who had been deported.

Officials say offender was a citizen from Mexico who had been arrested in Pennsylvania in 2009, and convicted of sexual assault charges against a minor and served more than two years in state prison.

This man was sent back to Mexico upon his release in 2012. He was found by deportation officers at a home in Chesapeake and has been taken into custody until he can be removed from the United States.

Officials say this man was found during an operation officers conducted in late-July.

A total of 18 people were arrested between July 24 and 28, 16 of which were reportedly convicted criminal aliens.
