Animal gets into power equipment, causes outage for 5,200 in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — An animal got into power equipment overnight on Tuesday, causing 5,200 customers lose power in the Stumpy Lake area of Virginia Beach.

Dominion Virginia Power spokesperson Bonita Harris tells WAVY.com that more than 3,200 of the customers had power restored in one minute, with the power getting switched to an alternate source.

The outage happened at 11:48 p.m. Tuesday.

The remaining customers had power restored over the next four hours, Harris says.

The last customers had power restored just before 4 a.m.
