Police dog bites suspect in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A police dog bit a suspect who ran from officers following a traffic stop early Friday morning.

A patrol officers reportedly saw a vehicle driving erratically and at a high rate of speech around 3:24 a.m.

The officer attempted to pulled over the car in the 700 block of Brinson Arch near North Witchduck Road. The car stopped in the 800 block of Romney Lane, and three occupants ran from the car.

Two suspects were arrested in connection to this incident.

20-year-old Jaquan Javon Cherry, of Hanover, has been charged with burglary, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of conspiracy to trespass, credit card theft, auto tampering and possession of marijuana. He is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.

Cherry was bitten by a police dog before he was taken into custody.

The teen, who is from Norfolk, was charged with burglary, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of conspiracy to trespass, credit card theft and auto tampering. He is being held in the Virginia Beach Detention Center without bond.

Police are still investigating.
