Driver charged after hitting person, several vehicles in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A person was struck by a vehicle Friday night at Holland Road and Governor’s Way.

Emergency dispatchers got a call about the accident at 7:51 p.m.

The driver, 47-year-old Paul James Williams, is charged with three counts of felony hit-and-run, DUI, DUI maiming, expired inspection and no seat belt.

Police say preliminary investigation revealed that a driver — now identified as Williams — hit several vehicles and a pedestrian at different locations.

Witnesses say a small black car hit a woman, who then flew up onto the vehicle’s windshield.

Williams ended up crashing at South Plaza Trail and Holland Road.

Both the driver and the pedestrian were taken to local hospitals. Police say the pedestrian reportedly suffered significant injuries, while the driver has minor injuries.
