Teen shot multiple times in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A teenage boy was seriously injured in a shooting in the 2600 block of Chestnut Avenue Friday night.

Dispatchers received a call about the shooting at 9:09 p.m. Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, who is believed to be 17-years-old, with gunshot wounds to his back and legs.

The teen was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is currently in serious but stable condition.

Police gave a vague description of the suspect, saying only that he was described as a light skin black male. Authorities did not provide any more suspect information.
