Police: 44 pounds of marijuana found in woman’s suitcase at Nashville airport

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman was arrested after she was allegedly caught traveling with nearly 45 pounds of marijuana at the Nashville International Airport on Wednesday.

Metro police reported 23-year-old Juneequa Smith picked up two pieces of luggage containing 37 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana weighing 44.5 pounds from baggage claim.

Officers were called to the airport to assist the Drug Enforcement Administration after agents received information Smith could possibly be carrying the drugs through the airport.

It is not known what city Smith traveled to Nashville from.

Smith was booked into the Metro jail and charged with felony drug possession. Her bond was set at $50,000.
