Newport News mother asking for help to find son’s killer

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Police have begun a new initiative to look at the more than 60 unsolved murders still on record.

24-year-old Ajene Marrow was shot and killed in the 500 block of Catina Way on January 20, 2013. Two men were seen running away from where the gunfire was heard.

Detectives have spent the past three years chasing down leads, but have yet to find the person who pulled the trigger.

Marrow left behind two sons. His mother said she thinks about her son everyday.

“For me, there is a lot of emptiness, numbness, struggling to make it through a day,” Sharisse Marrow said. “For the most part, it has been a nightmare.”
