RICHMOND (WAVY) – The Washington Redskins held their first off day of training camp. So, what better chance for Redskins safety and Virginia Tech alum DeAngelo Hall to show what kind of skill he has on the mound.
The Chesapeake native and Deep Creek High School graduate delivered the ceremonial first pitch for the Richmond Flying Squirrels game on Sunday. All he said he wanted to do…don’t be like star rapper and recording artist 50-cent, and his attempt.
The right-hander’s attempt wasn’t bad, and certainly was better than 50 Cent’s. It was a tad low and just barely scraped the dirt, but thankfully, a fellow Tech alum and former Hokie baseball player Tyler Horan was there to snatch it off the ground.
“Everybody kept saying, don’t throw it like 50 Cent,” said Hall after the pitch. “I thought I got it there, but it dropped right as it got to the plate. [Horan’s] a V-Tech guy, so he scooped it in there for me. To the average fan, you probably couldn’t tell, but it just dropped in there at the end.”
