Rabid fox found dead at First Landing State Park

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A dead fox was found Thursday on the beach path of the First Landing State Park at the 64th Street entrance.

The fox tested positive for rabies.

On Sunday, July 17, a rabid fox attacked two people and a pet dog on the beach path at the 64th Street entrance to First Landing State Park.

Rabies is fatal if left untreated. If anyone in your home, including your pet, has been exposed to stray or wild animals in the area in the past few weeks, you should contact your physician or the Health Department at 518-2700, between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Don’t call 911 unless you have an emergency.
