NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The City of Norfolk has announced that the Norfolk Consolidated Courts Building has closed due to excessive temperature inside the building.

Kaila DeRienzo with the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office says a court order was put in to close the court from 1 p.m. until further notice.

Lori Crouch with the City of Norfolk tells WAVY.com an electrical component with the HVAC system is not working properly.

DeRienzo says everyone is expected to report to work Tuesday, unless it is still too hot.

WAVY’s team of Super Doppler 10 meteorologists report that heat indexes are expected top 100 degrees Monday afternoon.
