Suffolk man arrested following standoff at motel

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Suffolk man was taken into police custody following an hours long standoff with officers Wednesday at the Regal Inn Motel.

Diana Klink with Suffolk Police tells WAVY.com officers attempted to serve several felony warrants at 9:24 a.m. Wednesday, but the suspect — now identified as 32-year-old Eric Lavon Morris — initially refused to leave.

Klink noted this was not a hostage situation.

Morris is now facing charges of grand larceny, petit larceny, four counts of failure to appear on felony charge, and failure to appear on misdemeanor charge.

A WAVY crew at the scene reported around 1:30 p.m. that the situation was over.
