Suspect in Virginia AMBER Alert arrested in Maryland

FAIRFAX, Va. (WAVY) — Police have arrested the suspect in an AMBER Alert issued on Wednesday.

An AMBER Alert was issued for 6-week-old Liz Khatun after she was reportedly abducted Monday morning around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Police received a tip in the afternoon from a local reporter, who said a source had information about the possible whereabouts of Flora Khatun and her baby. Detectives acted quickly to follow up on the tip.

The tip proved to be accurate and Flora Khatun was found with the infant around 5 p.m. in the 3500 block of Dean Drive, in Chillum, Maryland.

“The baby was in good condition and will be returned to the appropriate Fairfax County agency for care and custody,” police said.

Khatun was taken into custody and was transported to a local jail. She will be extradited to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where she will be served a parental abduction warrant.

The AMBER Alert has been canceled.
