Man in custody after tactical situation in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police say they have a man in custody following a tactical situation.

Police spokesman Randall W. Rajkumar notify media outlets shortly before noon that the situation had ended, and that a 51-year-old man had been taken into custody without further incident.

Officers initially responded to the 800 block of Forrest Drive after emergency dispatchers at were contacted at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

However, they reportedly received information that the man was at an Extended Stay Hotel on Jefferson avenue.
