CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Despite rainy conditions, the 36th annual South Norfolk Parade marched on in Chesapeake.

The Chesapeake Department of Parks of Recreation and the South Norfolk Civic League hosted the parade, where 70 different organizations participated — including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, churches, girl scouts and clubs.

Organizers say they did not need to make any adjustments because of the rain and that this is the first time that they remember holding it in the rain.

A few years ago, it was canceled because of a storm.

Aside from the parade, residents and visitors were treated to food, music, other activities at Lakeside Park.

The parade concluded around 10:45 a.m. Monday.
