Power restored to thousands in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Thousands of customers around the Ghent area of Norfolk were without power Monday morning, according to Dominion Virginia Power.

Dominion’s outage map showed more than 2,300 customers without power around 8:50 a.m. in an area stretching from West Freemason to Park Place.

At around 9:20 a.m., the number of customers affected was down to 1,981. The outage center is not currently showing any outages in the area.

Dispatchers tell WAVY.com there were reports of traffic lights out at W. Princess Anne and Llewellyn Avenue during the outage.

Dominion spokesperson Bonito Harris says the outage started at 8:23 a.m., and affected 2,370 customers. Crews determined that t was caused by a failed switch.
