Great Bridge, UVa pitcher Connor Jones signs deal with Cardinals

CHESAPEAKE (WAVY) – Connor Jones, a 6-foot-3 pitcher out of Great Bridge High School, has reportedly signed a deal worth $1.1 million with the St. Louis Cardinals, who drafted him 70th overall in last week’s Major League Baseball draft.

Jones decided to wait for his big-league opportunity. The strong righty was drafted by the San Diego Padres coming out of High School, but instead opted for a college career where he finished with a 22-5 record over a three-year career. He went 11-1 in 2016.
