NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A concerned citizen alerted a man that his house was on fire in Norfolk late Tuesday morning.
Around 11:20 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to the 6900 block of Pallister Road. Units reported seeing heavy smoke in the area and by the time the first crew arrived on scene at 11:25 a.m., smoke and flames were visible. Crews began extinguishing the blaze and searched the home. The fire was coming from a bedroom, and had grown from the point of origin into the attic.
Firefighters stopped the fire from spreading further. The fire was marked under control at 11:$5 a.m.
The citizen helped the man out of the home safely. There were no injuries reported.
The home is uninhabitable at this time due to fire and smoke damage. The Red Cross was requested to help the displaced.
The Norfolk Fire Marshal Office is currently investigating the fire.
