Attorney who represented Portsmouth mayor has law license suspended

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — An attorney who represented Portsmouth Mayor Kenny Wright had his license to practice law suspended on Monday, June 6.

A three-judge panel of the Portsmouth Circuit Court suspended Michael J. Massie’s law license for eighteen months for violating professional rules. Massie agreed to the suspension for misconduct.

Mayor Wright hired Massie to defend him after Wright was charged with felony eluding and having an expired inspection sticker in January. A judge later dismissed Wright’s charges.
