One dead, two injured after head-on collision in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Emergency crews responded to the scene of a crash Nansemond Parkway Monday evening that killed one person, and injured two others.

Dispatchers received a call at 5:46 p.m. reporting the accident. Police say the head-on collision involved a Hyundai Accent and a Honda Accord.

Kristin Bender, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger is Bender’s car is currently listed in critical condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A woman and man were treated at the scene. The woman was then airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second car was also taken to the hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Police still investigating the cause of the accident.
