Homicide investigation underway after woman found dead in Norfolk home

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Detectives are investigating a homicide in Norfolk after a woman was found dead in a home early Friday morning.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Friday, officers responded to the 900 block of Grayson Street to check on a woman’s well-being. Police found the woman inside the residence, but she was unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The woman was identified by police as 62-year-old Nancy M. Green of the 900 block of Grayson Street.

Green’s nephew, Lawrence Land, told 10 On Your Side that he was torn up over the loss.

“I just don’t understand this world, I really don’t,” Land said. “She was one of my favorite aunts. I will miss her very much.”

Green’s death has been classified as an active homicide investigation. Her exact cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time.
