Suspect in Hampton Shell Road shooting identified

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton Police are looking for a man wanted for shooting and injuring a 34-year-old man overnight.

Andre Marquis Monroe, 32, was identified as a suspect in the shooting, which happened in the 600 block of Teach Street, near Shell Road.

According to emergency dispatchers, the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m.

Police the victim was shot by a man — now identified as Monroe — while the two were in a verbal argument.

Medics took the victim to a local hospital for treatment with non life-threatening injuries.

Monroe is wanted on charges including maiming, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and shooting within the City limits.
