Family of 5 displaced following Chesapeake house fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A house fire in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake early Thursday morning displaced a mother and her four children.

According to Capt. Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department, firefighters responded to the 700 block of Quail Avenue around 2:24 a.m. and found smoke and flames coming from a one-story house.

Crews brought the fire under control in about 25 minutes. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire appeared to be cooking-related, according to fire officials.
