Chesapeake Police: Thefts from unlocked vehicles increasing

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Chesapeake say they have seen more larcenies from unlocked vehicles throughout the city.

Police say in many cases, the suspect or suspects target items that are either poorly hidden or within plain view in the vehicle.

Police are asking drivers to lock items such as purses, wallets, iPods, navigation tools and other valuables in the truck of their vehicles or hide them out of sight. Drivers should also be mindful to lock their doors.

As always, if you see any suspicious activity, contact police.
