HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A truck hit a power pole on Aberdeen Road in Hampton Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened at the intersection of Briarfield Road around 12:40 p.m.

Police say their investigation revealed that a silver vehicle was traveling westbound on Briarfield Road, cut through the 7-Eleven parking lot to avoid a traffic signal and then continued northbound on Aberdeen Road. While doing so, the silver vehicle pulled out in front of a 1993 Ford pickup truck, which caused the driver of the truck to lose control and strike a power pole while trying to avoid crashing into another vehicle.

There were no injuries reported. The driver of the pickup truck, a 59-year-old Hampton woman, will not face charges.

The road remains closed in both directions and is expected to reopen around 6 p.m.
