Star-Spangled Babies Shower provides military moms with info, gifts and support

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Operation Homefront and Lincoln Military Housing in Virginia Beach held a special shower for 100 new military moms and military moms-to-be on Tuesday.

At the Star-Spangled Babies Shower, moms are given donated gifts for their babies and educational information to help them learn about their new roles as mothers.

Military families have unique circumstances, such as deployments and frequent relocation, that can keep parents away from extended family support systems, which are helpful when it comes to raising children.

The Star-Spangled Babies Shower provides new and expecting parents with valuable information and support from other families going through the same thing.

“I don’t have a lot of friends in this area so I thought it would be a fun way to meet people,” expectant mother Haley Snyder said. “They did car seat safety and nutritional facts for the first year of your child’s life, which is really helpful.”
