SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Suffolk Department of Fire and Rescue is accepting applications for their Summer Fire and Life Safety Camps.

The camps will be held at several stations throughout the city for kids ages 6 through 9.

The camp is a half-day local camp that runs Monday through Friday and features challenging, entertaining and educational activities. The camp’s goal is to teach children safety lessons about things around their homes and schools. Short lessons will be followed by opportunities to participate in exercises that will reinforce the lectures.

Topics discussed will include firefighting, bike safety, water safety, search and rescue practices, first aid and more.
