PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A driver was seriously hurt in a crash at the intersection of George Washington Highway and Victory Boulevard Friday.
Southbound traffic heading down Victory Boulevard all the way to the Chesapeake city line was closed for several hours while police investigated.
The two-vehicle accident involved a tree trimming truck and a car. Misty Holley with Portsmouth Police said the male driver of the car had to be cut out of his vehicle and was then flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The accident happened around 11 a.m. and the road reopened almost four hours later.
