Police: Shots fired after two robberies in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Police say shots were fired after two robberies in Chesapeake Friday night.

According to police, officers were called to Sam’s Stop and Shop, located in the 1200 block of Bainbridge Boulevard, around 9:00 p.m. for a robbery.

Police say a suspect entered the store with a handgun and demanded money and cigarettes. He then exited the store and robbed a pedestrian before jumping into an older model, dark-colored BMW that was waiting for him parked at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Hull Street.

A citizen saw the suspect get into the BMW. He then approached the suspect vehicle in his own vehicle.

Police say the suspects realized the citizen may have seen the robbery and then fired several gunshots at the citizen’s vehicle, striking it.

The citizen was not injured and the suspects fled the area.
