Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A pedestrian was struck Friday night at the intersection of Big Bethel Road and Village Drive.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at 8:53 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the single-vehicle involved and the driver. The pedestrian, who police say is an adult male, was lying in the roadway. The Hampton man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian, 86-year-old Harry Davis, later died from his injuries, according to Sergeant Matt Bond with Hampton Police Division.

The driver, also a man, did not suffer any injuries.

Police say their preliminary investigation revealed that a blue, four-door Chevrolet sedan was traveling southbound on Big Bethel when the vehicle struck the pedestrian.

The crash is still under investigation.
