Guns stolen from parked car recovered by Kill Devil Hills police

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) — Police in Kill Devil Hills say they have recovered multiple guns that were reported stolen from a parked car last month.

According to police, a car at private home on Sioux Street was broken into on May 10. Two handguns, a revolver and two 10-round magazines were taken from the car.

The guns were recovered from under the branches of an oak tree in an empty lot on Creek Street.

Police say neighbors noticed a black canvass bag under the tree and found one of the firearms, along with boxes of ammunition. A second gun, the revolver, was wrapped in a cloth at the bottom of a bag.

The third gun connected to the reported robbery was found at a family home in Bertie County, and had not actually been stolen, police say.

The guns, the bag and items found in the bag are currently being processed and analyzed for fingerprint DNA. No suspect or suspects have been arrested.

Police ask anyone with information to contact call the Dare County Crime Line at (252) 473-3111.
