One hurt following industrial accident at VIG

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Emergency crews responded to an industrial accident at the Virginia International Gateway, Sunday afternoon.

According to Portsmouth Fire Chief Michael Stockton, two straddle carriers were involved in the accident as they were moving containers. One of the drivers was transported to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital with injuries, according to fire officials.

The extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.

There are no other details at this time.
