Vehicle found in Suffolk pond; driver charged with DUI

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) –  Units responded to an accident after a Toyota SUV was found in a retention pond on Holland Road on Saturday afternoon.

According to Suffolk Police, they found the vehicle in the retention pond, submerged up to the roof, with the driver out of the vehicle in the 1500 block of Holland Route behind a McDonald’s Restaurant.

Marshavon Adams, 35 of Hampton, was out of the vehicle when units arrived on scene. He was later arrested on charges of DUI, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.

Police say they were originally notified by emergency communications for a vehicle that was being driven recklessly on westbound Holland Road on Route 58.

Adams was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

Adams has been charged with reckless driving, DUI and driving on a suspended license.
