Police seek information about triple shooting in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Two men and another victim were shot in the 1100 block of Garden Drive Friday night.

Police say that some time around 10:15 p.m., dispatch received a call about a shooting in the area.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 19-year-old Newport News man on the front steps of a home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Officers found a second victim, a 22-year-old man, inside the home with a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Police found a third victim in the Ridley Circle apartment complex.

The two victims shot on Garden Drive were transported to a local hospital. All of the victims suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police say that based on witness and victim information, the two male victims, who didn’t know each other, heard gunshots as they were standing in the apartment complex parking lot. They both began running and were struck by bullets. Both victims ran to a residence for help.

Last week, on Friday, May 20, a Suffolk man was shot in the area of the 1100 block of Garden Drive. 34-year-old Charles Levar Sharpe was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. He died days later from his injuries.
