HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that happened Wednesday evening in Hampton.

At 5:18 p.m., officers were called to the 1200 block of Big Bethel Road just before the intersection at Hampton Roads Center Parkway.

An investigation revealed that a gold, 2004 Chevrolet four-door sedan was traveling southbound on Big Bethel when the driver lost control, ran off the road and flipped the vehicle before coming to a rest.

Fire and rescue crews responded to the scene, where the driver, a 60-year-old Yorktown man, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday, the man’s condition was upgraded to stable but serious condition.

No one else was in the car and no other vehicles were involved.

Police are still investigating the crash.
