HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police have arrested and charged a man for robbing a Hampton gas station at knifepoint Friday.

Wayne Blayton, 63, is now facing charges of robbery and burglary while armed in connection with the robbery.

Around 2:35 a.m. on May 20, police say a man — now identified as Blayton — walked into the Murphy’s Gas Station on Cunningham Drive, pulled out a knife and demanded money.

The suspect walked out with an undisclosed amount of money, and left in a white two-door Ford hatchback with front fender damage.

Police noted Wednesday morning that had taken Blayton into custody. He is currently being held at Hampton City Jail.
