Motorist sideswipes unmarked police car, hits box truck in Chesapeake

The accident has caused delays around Greenbrier Parkway.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A three-car crash at the intersection of Greenbrier Parkway and Kempsville Road is causing delays for motorists in Chesapeake.

Kelly O’Sullivan with Chesapeake Police says all three vehicles involved were trying to make a left-hand turn onto Greenbrier. A woman driving an SUV sideswiped an unmarked police car, and then rear-ended a box truck.

O’Sullivan says the drivers of the police car and box truck were not hurt in the crash. The woman was briefly trapped in her car, before crews were able to rescue her.

She was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

10 On Your Side received several pictures from the scene, which shows a SUV with a severely dented front end.

Chesapeake city officials were advising motorists about possible delays near Greenbrier Parkway due to the accident.

Police are currently investigating the crash.
