Newport News Shipbuilding to add 1,000 more jobs

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Newport News Shipbuilding has announced that the yard plans to add more than a 1,000 more jobs, according to Huntington Ingalls Spokesperson Christine Miller.

The job increase is part of a plan to help build a fleet of new navy submarines. Around 1,200 jobs were cut in 2015, with another 300 slated for later this year.

The new hiring plan will take place in next 3 – 4 years, according to officials.
