VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The driver who led officers on a chase, which ended with a crash at FTC Dam Neck, is facing several charges.

Laura Marie Muse, 46, has been charged with felony hit-and-run, felony eluding, DUI second offense and animal endangerment in connection with the May 9 incident.

Police say the incident started with a hit-and-run crash on Pacific Avenue and Norfolk Avenue when a Mercedes Benz fled the scene. Officers spotted the car on Prosperity Road 40 minutes later, speeding with a flat tire.

They chased the suspect — later identified as Muse — who eventually hit a concrete barrier, then crashed into another car before coming to a stop just inside the base.

Muse was sent to the hospital following the crash. She is currently being held at Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
