Counting Kindness

Virginia Beach, Va. (WAVY) – Plaza Middle School and the Virginia Beach Police Department teamed up Β to make the dream of an 8th grade special needs student come true. Conner Schiffer has always wanted to work in law enforcement and is a member of the Crime Solvers Club at Plaza Middle. The school’s Resource Officer, MPO Nicholas Guack organized a special swearing-in ceremony in Conner’s honor. His classmates attended, so did several Virginia Beach Police officers and the Chief of Police, Jim Cervera. After the ceremony, Conner got to patrol the school grounds, spend time in a police cruiser and visit the 2nd Precinct.

Also, a Newport News mom posted a message on Facebook thanking Fire Station 4 for making her son’s 6th birthday party memorable. Two firefighters brought an ambulance to Logan Thompson’s party, allowed him to try on some of their gear and spent two hours visiting with him. His mom, Christy’s post read, “awesome people doing awesome things”.
