KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) — The tires of three vehicles with the Kill Devil Hills Police Department were slashed during the overnight hours on Tuesday.
John Towler with Kill Devil Hills Police tells WAVY.com the tires were slashed sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. at the town hall complex.
Two of the vehicles are marked patrol cars that are not in use because the department is down a few officers, Towler said. He added that those cars will go to new hires.
The third car is a special operations van.
Towler said there is no video in that area of the town hall complex. According to police, the sidewalls of the tires were damaged in the incident — meaning that the tires will have to be replaced.
