SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A car police believe may have been stolen in Suffolk crashed early Tuesday morning.

According to a news release from Diana Klink with Suffolk Police, a Suffolk Police officer spotted the car, a silver Chevrolet Malibu, around 3:35 a.m. and tried to pull it over.

The driver led the officer on a chase before police ended the pursuit.

Officers found the Malibu a short time later crashed in a ditch in the 8800 block of Carters Grove Road in the Sleepy Lake neighborhood.

Police found the driver inside the car injured, but two other men who were also in the car ran from the scene.

Police K-9’s searched the area and found the two men within an hour.

All three occupants were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police say they believe the car they were in was stolen, but that it has not been reported stolen yet.

Items located within the car are also believed to have been stolen during recent car thefts in the area.

The incident remains under investigation, and police say charges are pending.
